Top 3 Essential Oils that Improve Your Health and Reduce Stress

Updated: May 16

What Are Essential Oils?
Before diving into the essential oil “must haves,” let’s start by exploring what essential oils are and the benefits they offer. Essential oils are aromatic oils extracted from the essence of plants that contain compounds and are beneficial to the healing process for the body. They quickly and easily evaporate and pass through our skin. This allows us to capture the plant’s healing properties and be able to use them to support our health. Essential oils are a great holistic alternative to assist with supporting physical and mental health. Essential oils offer a gentle, natural way to restore balance to the body and support overall well-being when experiencing illness.
Top 3 Essential Oils
While there are several essential oils to choose from, there are three that you should start using today to improve your health and reduce your stress.
Lavender
The first essential oil to start with is Lavender. Lavender is a common household staple. While Lavender is well known for its calming and relaxation effects, it has many other uses as well. Not only does Lavender work well to ease tension, but it is also helpful for cuts, wounds, burns, headaches, and skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Lavender is also a great addition to your meditation practice. For a good night’s rest, add 3-5 drops of Lavender to your diffuser, 1 drop to your pillowcase, or add 2 drops to your hand and rub it on your neck, chest, and temples. If you are feeling stressed and need to “wind down,” add 2-3 drops to your bathwater with epsom salt for ultimate relaxation.
Peppermint
The next essential oils “must have” is peppermint. Peppermint provides a cooling sensation and calming effect on the body and mind, making it great for muscle pain, nausea, and headaches. In addition to its calming properties, peppermint can also provide the body with a much-needed boost of energy in the morning or throughout the day. Peppermint is also great for helping with mental focus and clarity. For an added energy boost, peppermint can be gently inhaled (once) directly. For headaches, dilute 2 drops in a carrier oil and apply to your forehead and temples.
Tea Tree
The last essential oil to add to your top three “must haves” is Tea Tree Oil. Tea Tree offers antiseptic properties. It has the ability to assist with the process of healing wounds and killing strains of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Tea Tree is optimally used when treating skin and scalp conditions, such as acne and dandruff. Tea Tree can also be used as a natural deodorant, assists with bad breath, and may have the ability to heal toe fungus. To treat acne, use 4-5 drops of Tea Tree oil with raw honey. To treat toenail fungus, dilute and apply it topically to the affected area.
Conclusion
As you can see, these three essential oils are truly staples to have in your medicine cabinet. They contain a multitude of properties that make them ideal to utilize for ailments, promoting relaxation, and overall wellness. Allow yourself to experience the true beauty of plant medicine by adding these staples to your home.
